The Osun Waste Management Agency will soon begin waste recycling for commercial purposes, the General Manager, Alhaji Ganiyu Oyedokun, said in Osogbo on Friday.
Oyedokun told newsmen in Osogbo the agency was also considering the possibility of generating electricity from waste.
He noted that the prevalence of diseases such as malaria, typhoid, dysentery and cholera had reduced remarkably, due to the fact that people had cultivated the habit of keeping their environment clean.
The general manager said that the enforcement arm of the agency had swung into action to check recalcitrant people, who had continued to dump refuse on roadsides.
He recalled that the agency caught some of them recently and cautioned them with imposing any fine for the offence. (NAN)
