Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is willing to wait until the last day of the transfer window to land his number one target – Wayne Rooney.
The Blues have seen two offers rebuffed by Manchester United, but the Portuguese tactician is prepared to bide his time in his bid to bring the England international to Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old appears set on leaving United after nine years at the club and, while David Moyes has insisted the talismanic striker is not for sale, Mourinho seems determined to get his man.
“There is no time limit on it,” he said.
“We have identified the player as one we would like to have with us. We have done it in an ethical way and we are going to do that until the last day. We are doing things legally, making the official bid directly to the club.
“There have been no direct relations with the player, no contact – absolutely nothing. So let’s see if things change.”
