A career civil servant, Mallam Adamu Fika (not the former SGF and Head of Civil Service) was Wednesday sworn-in along with twelve other members to oversee the activities of the National Assembly Service Commission with a charge to ensure discipline at all levels of the commission.
President Goodluck Jonathan, handed down the charge during a short ceremony at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting,
Indicating that discipline was one of the serious problems bedevilling the development of the nation, the president urged the commission to focus on this aspect and ensure that there is compliance to existing rules and regulations guiding service delivery.
“One of the greatest problems we have as a nation is the issue discipline. Everywhere from the least office to the highest and in most cases people dont take their responsibilities seriously, and it is your duty to make sure people are disciplined, where they need to be disciplined” the President said.
