The police in Kwara have warned politicians in the state to refrain from promoting violence in order to sustain the peaceful co-existence in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, gave the warning on Tuesday in Ilorin while speaking with newsmen.
He said that the command would collaborate with all the registered political parties in the state to maintain a crisis-free atmosphere across the state in the build up to the 2015 general elections.
The police boss said that his posting to the state was not to victimise or intimidate any section of the society.
Aisabor assured residents that the command would approve the application of any registered political party wishing to carry out legitimate activities in the state.
Commenting on the violence that erupted in some parts of Ilorin on Monday, the commissioner warned residents to desist from acts capable of disrupting peace and security in the state.
He warned that anybody arrested by the police for involvement in acts of violence would be dealt with according to the law. (NAN)
