Stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State have faulted the process that led to the selection of party excos and candidates for the LG election in the area stressing that the party may lose the January 30 LG polls due to imposition of candidates.
The group in a letter addressed to the state chairman of the PDP, Haruna Dabin and signed by Abednego Jiran, Oscar Mbangmbang and 16 others, said unless “salient issues” bedeviling the party are addressed, the party stands the risk of “tearing apart as well as losing the forth-coming local government council elections.”
They accused the party of using the local government management committee members and their chairman to subvert an agreement of the list of delegates from the zone adding that “even civil servants were used as ad-hoc staff in selecting the chairmanship candidate, while non-party members participated in the process, thereby rendering the whole process invalid.”
The stakeholders later also alleged that no accreditation was made and “The whole process was marred with irregularities and lacked transparency.”
