January 14 has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government.

This is to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration nationwide.

In the statement, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Fatima Bamidele, on Thursday in Abuja, called on all Muslims and Nigerians in general to support President Goodluck Jonathan “in his sustained effort to build a peaceful, united and virile nation”.

The Ministry also urged all Nigerians to pray for peace, unity and growth of the nation.

The statement added that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, wished Nigerians a happy Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
