FORMER OYO STATE GOVERNOR, RASHIDI LADOJA (R), WITH HIS MEDIA AIDE, ALHAJI BASHIR LATINWO, AT A BRIEFING ON CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN IBADAN

A former Governor of Oyo State, Rasheed Ladoja has called on Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan in his fight against corruption, saying that only him cannot bring corruption to a stop.

Ladoja stated this on Wednesday in Ibadan while assessing governance under the present administration and the challenges facing it.

According to him, corruption is a societal problem that would be eradicated if everyone is ready to play a role in the fight against it.

He said, “Jonathan is the President of Nigeria on whose shoulders the responsibility of administering good government rests. Unfortunately, he cannot do it alone. He is currently faced with security challenges, but corruption has always been with us and it will not go unless we all fight it.

“The President can set up agencies to fight corruption, but the major weapon against it is with every individual in the nation. If we do not play our own part, those at the top will continue to lose the fight.

“I have the highest respect for Jonathan but he has yet to meet the dreams of every Nigerian. He has a lot of challenges, but how much can he do without the needed support? We all want him to succeed.”

Ladoja, was the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State during the 2011 governorship election.
