Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that its future in the South East depends on its ability to field credible candidates in the 2015 elections.

Ahamba, who made the assertion in Owerri on Wednesday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), warned against money politics as many people had indicated interest to contest election on the party’s platform.

“No matter the popularity of the party, if it fails to adopt candidates based on credibility, its future will be in doubt.

“Most vibrant political parties go into relegation and do not win elections because of wrong choice of candidates.

“I will work against money politic in the party and make sure that only credible candidates will be projected during general elections,’’ he said.

Ahamba said the party had registered many experienced and credible people as members and assured the people that APC would change the face of politics in the five South East states.

He noted that APC members would work comfortably with Gov. Rochas Okorocha because of the governor’s political principles.

He advised the governor to follow due process in his intentions to belong to the party, insisting that membership of the party was strictly a constitutional matter. (NAN)
